For the past three weeks I have been running for about 15 to 20 minutes a day, five days per week. My goal is to get back into road racing, shed some pounds, and strengthen myself for karate and snowboarding this winter. Honestly, it hurt like hell the first week and I really felt old. It didn’t help matters that I added some speed, 5 x 200m intervals at faster than race pace, to the mix. Too much, too soon. Recovery from these daily short runs was painfully slow. But I have dropped weight and today I went on a relaxing 45 minute run with a friend on the trails over at PEA. I felt like I could have run another 45 minutes with no problem. Finally feeling like a runner again.
